Mahindra Mojo launched in India

Mahindra launched the much awaited Mojo for Rs 1.58 lakh (ex-Delhi), in India on 16th October and and is available in a choice of three colours- Glacier White, Charcoal Black and Volcano Red.. First showcased at the 2010 Auto Expo and after a delay of 5 years, Mahindra finally launched the Mojo in the Indian market from a pre-production phase. Mahindra Mojo has been simultaneously launched in Bengaluru, New Delhi, Mumbai and Pune.

First 100 Mahindra Mojos have already been pre-booked through invitation, the bookings have started at Rs 10,000 (some dealerships report the booking amount to be Rs 20,000). As Phase 1 Mahindra has offered the Mojo via 10 dealerships in the country. The company has also announced the launch of Mojo Tribe, which is an official riding club that offers Mojo owners a chance to stay connected over rides and other activities. Some the features that appeal in Mojo are double barrel headlamp cluster with DRLs and dual Exhaust pipes.

On the mechanical front, the Mojo derives power from a 295cc, four stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel injected engine that churns out 27 BHP of maximum power and 30 Nm of peak torque. Power will be sent to the rear wheel through a 6-speed transmission. It can supposedly reach a top speed of around 165 km/hr and return 30-35 km/l with a 21-litre fuel tank helping munch those miles without having to stop for fuel very often.

The Mahindra Mojo is truely a tourer friendly motorcycle thanks to its very comfortable seating position and an upright stance which further enhances its appeal. The front end gets upside down forks which lend a good appeal to the bike, while the rear makes do with a monoshock setup which is mounted on the swingarm. It rides on impressive Pirelli Diablo Rosso tyres that are wrapped around good looking 17-inch alloy wheels. Retardation is achieved from a 240mm disc brake at the rear and a 320mm disc up front. ABS will not be offered with the bike at the time of launch, but should be provided as an option at a later stage.
