Good news for all Ducati fans, the company has just unveiled the new Scrambler Sixty2 at the 2015 EICMA Motor Show. With this bike, Ducati took its product portfolio to lower segments, the name of the bike is inspired from the year 1962. This is the year Ducati launched the original Scrambler. Overall the new Sixty2 is a bike which retains its old school characteristics, but with a modern touch, as it comes equipped with modern technologies like LED lights for the front and rear and ABS.
Based on the bigger Scrambler, the bikes resembles its earlier version in terms of design, but with this bike it clearly shows Ducati's plan to target entry-level performance bike category. The Ducati Scrambler Sixty2 is aimed towards those class of buyers who want to upgrade to a twin-cylinder bike in addition to the Ducati brand’s appeal. Riding on a steel trellis frame from the Scrambler, the engine is also a derivative of its more powerful 803cc sibling.
On the mechanical front, the Ducati Scrambler Sixty2 is powered by a 399cc, L-twin engine that is capable of making 41 PS of power at 8750 RPM and 34.3 Nm of torque at 7750 RPM. Braking performance at the front comes from two piston floating callipers that use a single 320mm unit. Though this unit is smaller than the previous Scrambler, which is a lot bigger, the Sixty2 gets the same 235mm disc setup as its elder sibling at the rear. The front suspension has a normal twin-fork setup as compared to an inverted unit on the current Scrambler. Rear swingarm on the other hand has been switched to a steel cast from an aluminium cast found on the big Scrambler.
In India, the Ducati Scrambler carries a price tag of Rs. 6.78 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Therefore, the Scrambler Sixty2 should carry a price tag of Rs. 4.75 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) when the company brings the bike to India towards the beginning of next year.
